From October 22 to 24, the 2025 International Summit on Innovative Technologies and Industrial Development in Eye Health was held in Longwan. As a key segment of the World Young Scientists Summit, this forum has long transcended the scope of an ordinary conference, emerging as a powerful lever that integrates science and technology, healthcare, investment, and industry—driving the "four-sector synergy" and placing Longwan in the global spotlight as a frontier hub for the eye health industry.
During the summit, top experts, scholars, industry elites, investors, and representatives from various government departments in the global eye health field gathered together. Through dozens of high‑density, high‑quality thematic sessions, they exchanged ideas and explored common development pathways. From the International Summit on Innovative Diagnosis and Therapy at the Wenzhou‑Nanyang Technological University Joint Research Institute, to the International Ophthalmology and Optometry Investors Conference; from the Forum on Tech‑Finance Empowering Eye Health Industry Development, to the First Chinese Graduate Academic Conference on Vision Health—these high‑level academic exchanges built an “academic matrix” covering the entire industrial chain, closely linking cutting‑edge research, clinical needs, capital vitality, and policy support, and paving a fast track for the translation and commercialization of innovative projects.
“This is a cross‑sectoral event centered on ophthalmology that truly bridges industry, academia, research, and government. It offers more practical value than a purely academic forum and easily sparks collaborative opportunities,” said Zhang Zhiyong, Professor at Guangzhou Medical University and Chairman of Zhongke Ruiji. Zhang Jing, Brand Manager at Chaoju Ophthalmology, also remarked, “At the forum, we could see cutting‑edge new technologies and equipment in eye health, and also feel the vibrant energy of young researchers. The most eye‑catching of these was the announcement by Qu Jia, Chairman of China Eye Valley and Director of the National Engineering Research Center for Optometry and Ophthalmology, that the autumn VC (Vision China) Conference will be permanently based in Wenzhou! This decision marks Wenzhou as a “strong magnet” for global innovation resources. Notably, the Wenzhou‑Nanyang Technological University Joint Research Institute was officially inaugurated at China Eye Valley.
"Hosting this high‑level conference in Longwan, Wenzhou, is intended to send a strong message to the world about China's scientific and technological strength in myopia prevention and control," said Lü Fan, Chief Scientist of China Eye Valley and Director of the National Clinical Research Center for Ocular Diseases.
As one of the centerpieces of the conference, the finals of the first Global Technology Innovation Competition – "AI + Eye Health" Artificial Intelligence Special Contest, alongside the 7th China Eye Valley "CCB Cup" Ophthalmology and Optometry Innovation and Entrepreneurship Challenge, were launched concurrently. Since its inception in July this year, the competition had attracted over 180 projects from both domestic and international sources. After intense rounds of selection, 40 projects stood out, and ultimately 10 received first, second, and third prizes. They will be officially honored by the Zhejiang Provincial Government in November. Chen Xiangxiang, CEO of Guangzhou Oushi Medical Technology Co., Ltd., participated with his project, "World‑leading Handheld Fundus Camera and AI‑based Ophthalmic Screening Solutions." He noted that the competition provided an excellent platform for peer exchange, where participants could not only learn about the latest industry trends but also gain opportunities to engage with investors.
Behind the success of the forum lies Longwan District's long‑term commitment to cultivating the eye health industry, continuously optimizing the "government‑industry‑academia‑research‑medical‑investment" ecosystem, and leveraging its geographical and technological innovation advantages to build a solid foundation for sustained development.

Since the founding of China Eye Valley in 2019, Longwan District has steadfastly positioned the eye health industry as the core engine of its life‑science sector. By leveraging China Eye Valley as a pioneering platform that integrates education, science and technology, and talent development in the eye health field, the district has accelerated deep integration of innovation and industry through collaborative R&D on high‑level platforms and targeted policy incentives. This has charted a new path of mutual promotion between sci‑tech innovation and industrial development in the eye health sector.
Over the past five years, China Eye Valley has continuously advanced its large‑scale incubation cluster development, refined the "government‑industry‑academia‑research‑medical‑investment" collaborative innovation system, and strived to build a world‑class hub for eye health technology, talent, and industry. By September 2025, over 400 enterprises had been registered in the park. In 2024, the total revenue of the Eye Valley Town exceeded 10.35 billion yuan, with the core park contributing 4.6 billion yuan and tax payments surpassing 50 million yuan, initially establishing an industrial ecosystem driven by professional guidance and expert leadership. "As long as it relates to eyes, you can come to China Eye Valley. Our core mission is to solve eye‑related problems," Qu Jia said in an interview.
